The Sustainable Services Negotiation Mandate supports the government`s commitment to improving the services people rely on, making life more affordable and investing in sustainable economic growth. The mandate is consistent with B.C`s commitment to balanced budgets and good financial management. Currently, nearly 325,000 public sector employees – almost 98% – are covered by interim agreements or ratified as part of B.C`s sustainable services negotiating mandate. The UFV is cooperating with the Post-Secondary Employers Association (PSEA) to ensure that the negotiated agreement is in line with the mandate for sustainable services. The Sustainable Services Bargaining Mandate applies to all public service employers with unionized workers whose collective agreements expire on December 31, 2018 or after December 31, 2018. The collective agreement between the faculty and the Staff Association (FSA), which represents faculty and staff at all campus sites, and the university expired on March 31, 2019. The parties will begin negotiations for a renewed collective agreement on February 21, 2020. UFV has two restaurants with a varied menu and available at low prices (about 0.55 dollars). The University Restaurant (UK) operates according to the academic calendar and a few events.

That is why January is the period of collective leave for workers; in February, it only works during the SEARA (Catholic event); in March, it resumes its normal activities. In July, it runs until the end of the end of the year exams, during the peasant week or other events. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, only breakfast and lunch are served, dinner is not offered. International students can use the EF provided they provide proof of links to the UFV. Some of the agreements signed by the UFV include housing where there is reciprocity, but most of them do NOT have clauses indicating the accommodation of foreign students in dormitories maintained by the UFV. The collective agreement is a collective agreement negotiated through collective bargaining between the faculty and the Staff Association (FSA) and the UFV. This agreement defines the terms and conditions of employment of UFV`s unionized teachers and staff, as well as the rights, privileges and obligations of the union, employer and workers. The successful candidate must have an MSc (PhD preferred) in electrical engineering, mechatronics, engineer physics or equivalent. P.Eng certification is also desirable. Experience in physics and engineering beyond the first year of study is also considered an advantage. Candidates with experience in teaching at UFV, particularly in the field of engineering physics, are privileged.
